Completion: January 2007

This project entailed the complete refurbishment of a single family apartment in a XIX century mansion block in Brook Green, London. The overall theme of the design is the juxtaposition of old and new, and called for the apartment to be gutted back to its original bare bones and then rebuilt in futuristic, sculptural luxury that is pure Sybarite.

At 860 sq ft, every bit of this two bedroom space had to work hard and it is crammed with clever organisational design features, from the cupboards and wall-fixed wine rack in the kitchen to fitted wardrobes and under-bed storage in the bedroom to shelving and perimeter worktop in the living room. All of this bespoke Italian furniture is finished in glossy white lacquer, minimising its spatial impact whilst maximising light reflection.

The central feature of the living room is the ingenious round sofa from Sybarite’s own ‘200 Range’ of furniture. Comprised of four wedges encircling a reversible footstool / table, the couch can be pulled apart to create extra seating or used in the round as a snugly family sofa or guest bed.

The colour palette throughout is kept to layers of white, cool greys and blues, creating a mood of relaxed spaciousness, whilst the variety and quality of the materials, like the zinc kitchen worktop and white quartz floor tiles, accentuate the sense of bespoke luxury.
